Hourly to Salary Calculator
About This Calculator
This Australia Hourly to Salary Calculator converts an hourly wage into an equivalent annual salary and estimates your take-home pay. Enter your hourly rate, typical hours per week, and weeks worked per year. The calculator applies Australian federal tax brackets and the Medicare levy to give you an idea of your net pay. Useful for comparing job offers, negotiating rates, or understanding the real value of an hourly position.
How Is Annual Salary Calculated from Hourly Wage in Australia?
Gross annual salary = hourly rate Γ hours per week Γ weeks per year. For example, $45/hour Γ 38 hours Γ 52 weeks = $88,920 gross per year.
Federal income tax and the Medicare levy are then applied to this gross amount. Australia uses progressive tax brackets (2025-26: 0% up to $18,200, then 16%, 30%, 37%, 45% on higher bands) and a 2% Medicare levy for most taxpayers. Net salary is gross minus federal tax and Medicare levy. There is no state income tax in Australia.
The calculator assumes you work a consistent number of hours. If your hours vary, use an average. Overtime and penalty rates are not factored in. Results are estimates only; for official rates, see the ATO.
