Useful for comparing job offers, negotiating rates, or understanding the real value of an hourly position in Ontario.

How Is Annual Salary Calculated from Hourly Wage in Ontario?

Gross annual salary = hourly rate ร— hours per week ร— weeks per year. For example, $35/hour ร— 40 hours ร— 52 weeks = $72,800 gross per year.

Federal tax uses five progressive brackets. Provincial tax in Ontario uses its own bracketsโ€”rates vary by province (e.g. Alberta has lower rates, Quebec and Nova Scotia tend to be higher). CPP (5.95% on applicable earnings) and EI (1.66% on insurable earnings) are also deducted.

Net salary = gross minus federal tax, provincial tax, CPP, and EI. The calculator uses current CRA rates for the selected year. Results are estimates; for official figures, see the CRA.
